Meeting with CEBSD, our strategic partner |

CEE CN director and coordinator plus representatives of some CEE CN member organizations were invited by our strategic partner Combine European Bureau for Social Development (CEBSD) to their Future Seminar that was held on October 29-30, 2009 in Orebro, Sweden. We have been involved to their discussion on CEBSD future development and decision to grow. Thanks to TLCD project a new synergy arises because of some more organizations were involved to this project and the cooperation with CEE CN started.

Twentieth anniversary
This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the change from socialism to a democratic system in Central and Eastern Europe. The last couple of months have been filled with considerable reflections in the region. The change came with great hopes, enthusiasm and energy. Today the reality is marked more by words such as fatigue, frustration and lack of trust. Many find themselves disappointed by the changes and unsure how to maneuver in this new environment. There are some being left behind in all these changes. Citizens are certainly in this category.

Citizens Participation Week 21-27 September 2009 |

Co-ordinated, awareness-raising events and surveys, involving international and national publicity
This year we organized the fifth Citizens Participation Week. In the previous years, over 180 civil organisations joined the programme and gained the commitment to the cause from a number of public figures and leading politicians; the series of events received high-profile coverage in the local and international media.

Since Russia is not a place of strong citizen participation culture, the case of our member in Koryazhma, Archengelsk region is really an empowering story for thos, who also fight with disbelief. We hope, that we can assist both our members, and the bodies of public administrations to become convinced by the values of citizen participation.
